The Client Service Executive is responsible for servicing Western Asset’s UK clients. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Head of UK and European Client Service & Marketing to cultivate the firm’s relationships and assist our UK business development effort. Coverage would be primarily across Great Britain. These institutions include public organizations and private pensions, corporate treasury and insurance companies. The role would also include coverage of a number of UK-based consultant relationships. The position of Client Service Executive is a critical component of this team. Western Asset currently manages approximately US$420 billion for institutional clients. The London operation has been essential to Western’s success internationally. Given our growing book of clients on the continent we aim to add resources with a goal to expand our existing client footprint in the European marketplace. We see strong interest for fixed income including in the public sector driven by the recent move to pooling of local government pension schemes and by UK pension derisking which we see raising demand for cashflow driven investing (CDI) and “secured finance” for which Western Asset is well positioned in terms of solutions. , We also see interest for Total Return and Unconstrained strategies and we have developed a suite of products to meet that demand. Primary goal, develop and strengthen the firm’s existing relationships with clients and with investment consultancy firms to help grow Western Asset’s assets under management in the UK Act either in conjunction with Portfolio Managers and Product Specialists or alone to answer prospective client and investment consultant questions, informing them of portfolio/ market activity and investment strategy. Assist in the building of brand awareness and reputation for the firmin the UK. Responsible for understanding and communicating UK institutional investors’ investment allocation, strategies and product demand. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all areas of the firm when representing Western Asset. Assume responsibility for substantive input into external communication to clients and consultants. Assume responsibility for presentations and RFPs for clients domiciled in the UK. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of fixed income markets and investment solutions, educate prospective clients on the Firms’ investment philosophy , process and risk management. Desired competencies, skills and experience include: + A strong and proven client service aptitude combined with business development skills. + Excellent and persuasive communication skills with the ability to convey information and ideas clearly both verbally and in writing + An ability to work pro-actively and show a commitment to adding value and delivering superior results to the organisation and clients + 8 to 10 years of experience in the fixed income asset management industry, within client service, distribution, portfolio management and/or research functions. + Fluency in English. + In-depth knowledge of fixed income markets, and strategies being deployed to UK institutional clients . + Strong teamwork and other interpersonal skills to work effectively across a broad range of business functions, including the ability to work with Product Specialists, Portfolio Managers and employees in other offices. + Embrace innovations in investment, marketing and distribution processes, procedures and systems. + Adoption of Western Asset’s core values of trust, honesty, integrity, diversity, teamwork, mutual respect and personal responsibility. Academic Qualifications (minimum requirements): Undergraduate degree in a relevant field. Masters Degree/CFA certification preferred.
