Job Description:
The Centre for Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Modelling and Evaluation, within the Institute for Global Health, are seeking to appoint a full time, Research Statistician.The post-holder will join the Centre which is based at the Royal Free Campus in Hampstead, London.The Centre contains a large number of statisticians and epidemiologists working on the design and analysis of studies of HIV infection and other infectious diseases.The main interests of the Group include clinic based observational cohort studies, randomized trials, and modelling studies.The Group is co-led by Professors Andrew Phillips and Caroline Sabin.The post-holder will undertake analyses of the SUPA (Supporting Uptake and Adherence to antiretrovirals) randomised trial and cohort study which aims to investigate whether an intervention based on cognitive behavioural therapy model can successfully promote adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) in people living with HIV (PLWH).The trial will also assess how patients´ beliefs about ART change over time and how this may predict adherence and engagement in care.Recruitment to the trial is almost complete and we now wish to recruit a statistician to support the trial analysis. An additional cohort study has been running in parallel to the randomised trial among similar population, this will allow the investigator to undertake real-world analysis of the association between attitudes to ART and virological suppression on treatment.The statistician will undertake analyses on this cohort study.The position is available from 1st May 2018 and is funded until 30 April 2019, in the first instance. The successful applicant will hold an MSc in Medical Statistics, epidemiology or equivalent with significant statistical content, including analyses of longitudinal data. They will have knowledge of use of the statistical package SAS and be willing to adopt use of this package.They will have experience of the analysis and interpretation of data from randomised controlled trials and of analysis of longitudinal data derived from cohort studies. An interest or background in the subject area, particularly HIV infection and its treatment is essential.The post-holder will have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate statistical concepts effectively to those with only minimal statistical knowledge.
